Top Restaurant & Bars

  • Jungle Bird (Downtown) - Jungle Bird is easily one of our favorite local spots for drinks, food and live music. There are 3 full-service bars (1 outside, 1 in their private courtyard, and 1 inside). Whether you’re on the hunt for a pleasurable dining experience in an impressive oasis-like setting or just out for happy hour, Jungle Bird has it all. With its live music seven days a week, Sunday brunch, an interesting menu filled with mouthwatering options, and the finest Tiki drinks in the area, you’re guaranteed to have a great time. (Photos below)

  • Nice Guys Pizza (Downtown) - Another personal favorite, and just a few blocks away from Jungle Bird is Nice Guys Pizza, This may be the quirkiest restaurant in town but it has some of the best pizza Cape Coral has to offer. This punk-esque/hipster eatery features glow-in-the-dark wall art to old school pinball machines to post-it-covered bathroom walls. This no-frills bar makes 15+ different specialty pizzas, pub fare, and serves amazing cocktails and craft beers. The menu is just as alluringly chaotic as the décor. Order anything from the corn dogs with black truffle honey mustard to the fried chicken-topped General Tso’s pizza. And that doesn’t even include anything from the extensive vegan menu! Our personal favorite pizza is simply the pepperoni with mushroom. You can be sure that the wild desserts menu will grab your attention before you head out. There’s deep fried Oreos, Euro trash donuts, or what they call the future cavity — a decadent pizza covered with Nutella, marshmallow, banana and peanut butter. Try the weekly Wednesday trivia night along with a pizza and a cold one.

  • Boat House Tiki Bar & Grille (Yacht Club/Cape Coral Beach) - Boat House Tiki Bar & Grill, in Yacht Club Community Park, is an open-air restaurant with a deck and a small beach that serves seafood, beverages, and live music, as well as a fuel dock. Top Day Trips & Things To Do

    Fishermen’s Village in Punta Gorda

Located on pristine Charlotte Harbor in Punta Gorda, Florida, Fishermen’s Village is just 30 minutes north of our home. Visitors can enjoy an array of boutique and specialty shopping, waterfront dining, indoor and outdoor bars, and a variety of recreational activities including fishing charters, out island sightseeing tours, nightly sunset cruises, boat and kayak rentals from the marina, as well as tours of the Military Heritage Museum. There are live music and family-friendly holiday-themed events throughout the year.

    Matlacha Island

15 minutes south of our home is the community of Matlacha, one of Pine Island’s five distinct settlements, with a unique history and atmosphere. It feels like an authentic fisherman’s village, but was sadly hit by Hurricane Ian. There are no traffic signals, schools, or churches, and nobody seems to be in a hurry. Matlacha is currently rebuilding from the hurricane, but there are a few restaurants and farm stands still open to the public. Miceli's is a local favorite, and provides casual dining and bar with live music on the water. Go during happy hour for a beautiful sunset, you won’t be disappointed. Additionally, this Matlacha is renowned for its serene backwaters and is one of the most incredible spots in the region for paddling and fishing.

    Sanibel & Captiva Island

Hurricane Ian unfortunately, but seemingly temporarily, wiped out much of beautiful Sanibel and Captiva Island, which is about a 1 hour drive South from our property. Despite the hurricane’s damage, the island remains extremely beautiful, the beaches are still stunning, and there is plenty to do for a full day trip while the islands rebuilds. Our top day-trip recommendation is getting a day pass to 'Tween Waters Island Resort on Captiva Island. Call ahead to see if you need to book in advance, or if you can simply show up. Once you cross over the bridge onto Sanibel, the drive to Tween Waters is very enjoyable. Towards the end of the drive you will pass some of the biggest and most impressive beachfront mansions in South West Florida, before pulling into Tween Waters. As of 2/8/23, this resort offers a $65 per car (up to 6 people) day pass which allows you to park on-site and use all facilities, including the 2 pools, 2 hot tubs, private beach and handful of restaurants. It’s a great day trip as a couple, as a group, or as a family. Shelling is the most popular family activity on Sanibel & Captiva; you can hardly step on the sand without engaging in the infamous “Sanibel Stoop” to look for shells.

    Sarasota & Siesta Key

A 1.5 hour drive north on the gulf coast of Florida is a small city called Sarasota, known as being home to the #1 beach in the United States: Siesta Key Beach. Siesta Key is located a short distance away from the bustle of downtown Sarasota, and is essentially a barrier island that fringes along the Gulf Coast of Florida, spanning 8 miles and boasting fine white quartz sand that many consider among the world’s finest and most pristine. The type of sugary sand means it doesn’t overheat, either. Tide pools make the spot good for families with kids, and children will also have fun on the big playground… While in town be sure to check out St. Armands Circle, a cute little spot with lots of shopping and dining options. The area is charming with trimmed bushes, flowers and statues throughout the street. We arrived around noon and found a parking spot pretty easily. It’s all street parking. Another fun activity is touring “The John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art”, home to hundreds of art and cultural collections! The museum showcases the lives of John and Mable Ringling the history of the Ringling Bros. circus. The museum is free on Mondays, and regular admission ranges from 5 dollars to 25 dollars depending on which tour you are taking. Lastly, you must check out the never ending options of downtown Sarasota dining.
